The Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project completed a study in Nov. 2010 about who uses Twitter. With the zeal that every entity from US Senators to mass media companies promote their presence on Twitter, one may get the impression that everybody is using it. You may be surprise by some of the findings from this study. Here are some highlights:
In the last several breakfast meetings the conversation has eventually turned to the topic of social media. I found this presentation from research-based advisory firm Altimeter Group, on Mashable, and thought many may find it interesting as we try to understand how to incorporate this new marketing process into our overall strategy.
I use LinkedIn and I notice many of you are members as well. (Leblanc, always the overachiever has over 200 connections whereas our favorite rock star Chuck has one connection. Go figure. David, a late bloomer, has a respectable 61.)
I am going to form a "Group" on LinkedIn called The CEO Roundtable so if you are a member, join this group.
And, since we are on the subject of social networking vs. business networking sites, do any of you find you get any professional benefit out of LinkedIn or Facebook or Myspace or any other networking site?
This is where we'll be blogging about our meetings, upcoming events, and local business news in general.
